Nora Tangible & Intangible Memories

Tangible cultural heritages are, for example, visual art objects, architecture and monuments. Intangible cultural heritages, for instance, include verbally inherited traditions and expressions, performing arts, folk wisdom and traditional crafts.
In 2021, UNESCO officially registered traditional Nora folk dance and drama from the South of Thailand as an intangible cultural heritage.
The work ‘Nora: Tangible & Intangible Memories’ is an attempt to transform an ‘intangible heritage’ into a ‘tangible’ one through the drawings of Nora stories and performances on a blackboard. The drawings become images of memories before being steadily erased, leaving only some traces of memories far from being tangible. Only the remains of dust from the erased drawing chalks are left visible and tangible.
